1.1 Scope. 1.1.1 This standard contains the requirements for the design, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of condensed and dispersed aerosol fire-extinguishing systems for total flooding applications. 1.1.2 This standard also covers performance requirements and methods of testing for condensed aerosol systems, dispersed aerosol systems, and associated components.

This standard contains minimum requirements for fixed aerosol fire extinguishing systems. It is intended for use by those who purchase, design, install, test, inspect, approve, list, operate, and maintain fixed aerosol fire-extinguishing systems so that such equipment will function as intended throughout its life.

This comprehensive document provides (1) design, installation, operation, testing and maintenance provisions addressing condensed and dispersed aerosol fire extinguishing systems for total flooding applications and (2) performance requirements and methods of testing for condensed aerosol systems, dispersed aerosol systems, and associated components.
