Pathways Program History
The Pathways Program was created after President Obama’s December 27, 2010 Executive Order on recruiting and hiring students and recent graduates into the Federal Government. It offers clear paths to Federal internships and opportunities. It is for students from high school through the post-graduate level. The ultimate goal is to help recent graduates start civil service careers.
Which pathway is right for you?
Are you motivated and talented? Whether you are a current student or recent graduate, we have a way for you to start your career at FEMA.
FEMA offers three “paths” to Federal civilian employment for students and recent graduates through the Pathways Program:

The Internship Program has paid opportunities for current students enrolled in high school through graduate school.
2. Recent Graduate Programs
The Recent Graduate Programs has jobs for recent graduates of trade and vocational schools, community colleges, universities, and other qualifying educational institutions or programs.
Benefits
Participants receive training and mentoring. It offers dynamic career development.
Duration
The program is one-year.
Individuals must apply within two years of receiving their degree or certificate. Veterans who cannot apply because of their military service obligation may apply within six years.
3. Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program
The PMF Program is the Federal government’s highest leadership development program for individuals with advanced degrees. It is open to those who have received a qualifying advanced degree within the last two years.
