Prerequisites for on-campus National Fire Academy courses

We require that all National Fire Academy (NFA) on-campus students complete Incident Command System (ICS)-100-level and ICS-200-level training before applying for a course. While we prefer that you complete the “Introduction to ICS for Operational First Responders” and “Basic NIMS ICS for Operational First Responders” courses available through NFA Online, we will accept other National Incident Management System (NIMS)-compliant equivalent training as provided by state and federal agencies.

These NFA courses meet the NIMS requirements for ICS-100 and ICS-200:

ICS-100

  • Q0462, “Introduction to ICS for Operational First Responders” (2007 version or later).
  • F0163 or W0163, “NIMS — Incident Command System for Emergency Medical Services” (2007 version or later).
  • F0376 or W0376, “Incident Command System and Resource Management for the Fire Service” (2014).

ICS-200

  • Q0463, “Basic NIMS ICS for Operational First Responders” (2007 version or later).
  • F0163 or W0163, “NIMS — Incident Command System for Emergency Medical Services” (2007 version or later).
  • F0376 or W0376, “Incident Command System and Resource Management for the Fire Service” (2014).
