The National Seminar and Tabletop Exercise Series for Institutions of Higher Education (NTTX)

The National Seminar and Tabletop Exercise for Institutions of Higher Education (NTTX) is a series of campus-based events to test and promote campus resilience and emergency preparedness. The series brings together senior higher education leaders, as well as federal, state and local representatives from departments and agencies that support campus resilience to participate in workshops and work through a designed emergency scenario.

The 2016 National Seminar and Tabletop Exercise: Campus Violence

The 2016 NTTX event will take place at the University of Illinois at Chicago from November 16-17, 2016.

This two-day event will provide a forum for discussion about campus violence, including active shooter and other threats, and the higher education community. The event seeks to provide participants with insight into planning, preparedness and resilience best practices for the academic community when faced with campus violence, including:

  • Workshop Sessions focusing on campus violence, including active shooter and other threats across the U.S. higher education community.
  • A Tabletop Exercise involving participant role play in response to an act of violence on campus. This exercise will be a facilitated discussion, directing conversation to uncover cross-cutting issues in the nation’s higher education community.
  • A Virtual Session following the exercise to develop long-term decision-making tools for public safety officials.
