Chemical Sector Security Summit

The annual Chemical Sector Security Summit is an industry-wide networking and educational event co-sponsored each year by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council (SCC). The Summit features information vital for chemical security and brings together key government and industry stakeholders with a shared vision to enhance our nation’s chemical security.

Chemical Risk Management Self-Assessment Model

The Chemical Risk Management Self-Assessment Model (Chem-SAM) is a voluntary chemical risk management tool developed by Sandia National Laboratories’ International Chemical Threat Reduction Department, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State. Chem-SAM was designed for small and medium chemical facilities or laboratories to help strengthen risk governance in chemical facilities by providing an assessment method that is standardized, systematic, and replicable. Sandia National Laboratories

Sandia National Laboratories’ (SNL) International Chemical Threat Reduction (ICTR) Program advances U.S. and international threat reduction and counter terrorism goals by promoting safe, secure, and responsible use of chemicals across the globe.

Chemical Security Analysis Center

DHS established the Chemical Security Analysis Center (CSAC) to assess and identify vulnerabilities and respond to potential chemical threats and hazards to the homeland.

Jack Rabbit II Project

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical Security Analysis Center (CSAC) is leading the Jack Rabbit II project, a series of large-scale outdoor chlorine release trials conducted with a collaborative team of partners from government, industry, and academia.

Business Continuity Planning Suite

The Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Suite consists of three main components: BCP training, BCP and disaster recovery plan tool, and exercises for an implemented BCP. The suite and training are free and available to all.

Vehicle Inspection Guide and Video

The Department of Homeland Security Vehicle Inspection Guide and Video aid private and public sector partners in:

  • Mitigating risk from vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED).
  • Strengthening critical infrastructure protection by providing a step-by-step explanation of how to conduct a thorough vehicle inspection systematically, efficiently, and safely.

The video covers the interview of vehicle occupants and a detailed systematic vehicle inspection. It also highlights potential indicators to recognize during an inspection.

The guide covers the interview of vehicle occupants in greater detail, focusing on indicators of suspicious behavior.  In addition, the guide provides vital knowledge of “hot spots” and “IED indicators” for multiple types of vehicles.

How do I gain access to HSIN-CI?

Interested individuals should contact hsinci@dhs.gov, with a request for nomination that includes a name, company, and email address. Email addresses must match the company name. Email addresses from public ISPs, such as AOL, Google Mail, or Yahoo, will not be accepted. Once nominated, registrants will receive an electronic link to an application for completion.
