Construction began today at the NFA’s Fire Arson Burn Facility. Extensive improvements are underway to improve the quality of the student experience, including direct access, furniture storage, construction of “Ohm’s Wall”, area lighting, and parking. LEADERSHIP IN SUPERVISION PILOT COURSE Opportunity – The NFA is seeking students to attend a pilot offering of the new 6-day course Leadership In Supervision (P0860). Captain Joseph Schumacher from the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) recently led a Professional Development session for NFA students. Since 2005, the nonprofit FCSN has provided assistance and one-on-one mentoring to thousands of cancer-stricken firefighters and their families. FCSN also delivers extensive firefighter cancer awareness and prevention training nationwide.
Joseph Schumacher is a Captain with the City of Fairfax and member of the National Capitol Region IMT. He serves as the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Virginia Chapter Assistant State Director and is a key instructor for FCSN's “Taking Action against Cancer in the Fire Service” national cancer-prevention program.
