Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Program Description

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households with:

  • Home energy bills
  • Energy crises
  • Weatherization and minor energy-related home repairs

General Program Requirements

To qualify for this program, you must need help to pay your home energy costs.

Your annual household income (before taxes) must also be below the maximum income level for your state and household size.

The requirements may be different in each state.

 

 

If at least one member of your household gets help from a program like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or certain Veteran benefits, you may qualify automatically.
