Ground Water and Drinking Water

Compliance Monitoring Data Portal

The Compliance Monitoring Data Portal (CMDP) will enable drinking water utilities and laboratories to report data electronically to primacy agencies with fewer errors and in a more efficient manner.  The portal will increase data accuracy and completeness and once fully implemented, can potentially decrease the overall reporting burden for primacy agencies hundreds of thousands of hours.

Primacy agencies can use the portal-reported data to make more informed decisions about water system compliance and focus their limited resources on preventing and responding to public health problems.  The portal does not require new reporting. Primacy agencies, water systems, and laboratories will continue to report data to EPA based on the content and schedule outlined in the current regulations.

Primacy agencies that are interested in learning more about CMDP can visit:  https://cmdp.zendesk.com

EPA is also actively developing a modernized Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) called SDWIS Prime that will improve state decision-making by using the data received from the portal to develop new reports and provide automated notifications.  Prime is currently scheduled to be released in 2018.
