Kristin Amerling

Deputy General Counsel

Kristin Amerling is Deputy General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Transportation.  Her previous experience includes over 20 years of service in House and Senate staff positions, including Chief Investigative Counsel and Director of Oversight for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Chief Counsel of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Chief Counsel of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and State of Maine Press Secretary to Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell.  Ms. Amerling also spent several years in private practice as an associate with the law firm Steptoe and Johnson and served as Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund.  Ms. Amerling grew up in Maine and graduated from Harvard College and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
