Out with the old, Clear AFS closes coal plant
Radar equipment from the 1960s era required so much energy, it needed its own coal-fired power plant to operate. When the radar was upgraded to a more efficient unit, the plant generated too much power. Switching to a suitable energy source, however, is not as easy as turning off a switch.

It's our Culture: Robins unit recertified by OSHA as VPP Star Site
The 402nd Maintenance Support Group has been recertified as a Star Site by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration following a visit in August. The group was awarded the prestigious OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Site accreditation in 2013 for its ongoing commitment to workplace health and safety. It was the first industrial work site in Air Force Materiel Command to do so.
