- Take your kids to story time
- Enroll the family in summer reading programs
- Enjoy craft classes
- Tap into Wi-Fi and access computers

Thinking about visiting a library might conjure up images of the dusty books you were forced to read in school or of being shushed for every syllable you uttered above a whisper. But military installation libraries aren't like that. From online financial databases to reading groups, DVD rentals and scrapbooking classes, installation libraries have a variety of resources and services for everyone in your family. Here's what you'll find:
- On-site and digital library — Your military installation library has print media — books, magazines and newspapers — along with entertainment technology like eBooks, DVDs, audiobooks and downloadable books. Access the latest online resources, along with up-to-date databases and online tools for financial information, academic research and tutoring.
- Groups and programs — If you want to get your kids excited about reading, your military libraries have plenty to offer, like reading groups, book clubs, story times, the Morale, Welfare and Recreation summer reading program and children's reading parties.
- Office equipment — Many libraries also have computers and Wi-Fi access, and some have copiers and fax machines for your use — just a few reasons why libraries can be a great place to work during transitions and travel, or anytime you just need a quiet, functional space.
- Community and classes — Some libraries host classes and events where you can connect with others in your community. If you like board games, scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, or arts and crafts, your installation library may offer classes and supplies to get you started.
Hours vary for different installation libraries and each has different offerings, so learn what's in your library before you visit. Not all installations have brick-and-mortar libraries, however. If yours doesn't, check out the Morale, Welfare and Recreation digital libraries.
