Doughboy Bowl – October 20

Come out and show your support for the Fort Benning Doughboys as they take on the Columbus State Cougars! Don’t miss the 5th Annual Doughboy Bowl on Thursday, October 20 at Doughboy Stadium. Opening ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. and kickoff is at 6 p.m. but come early for tailgating starting at 3 p.m.! Don’t forget your team spirit or to wear your black Doughboy shirt to make this a “Blackout” game! Admission is free and no tickets are required. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Oktoberfest – October 21-23

Fort Benning’s favorite fall tradition returns to Uchee Creek October 21-23, 2016. Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy traditional German music including Sonnenschein Express and Yodelers, food, games for all ages, pumpkin patch, hayrides, a 10K race and a Volksmarch. There is no entry fee for this family event and it is open to the public. The fun starts at 4 p.m. Friday, October 21, and ends at 10 p.m. The day includes a ceremonial keg tapping at 6 p.m., music by the Sonnenschein Express and German yodelers, stein hoisting contests and more. Our event kicks-off on Saturday with a 10K race continues from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday’s events will begin at 10 a.m. and wrap up around 6 p.m.  There is plenty of fun for the entire family. Oktoberfest 10K – October 22

Join us on Saturday, October 22 at Okoberfest as it begins with the annual Kia AutoSport Cross-Country 10K Race. Register online here or sign up at Smith Fitness Center (download the registration form here or pick up a copy at Smith). The Oktoberfest 10K Cross Country Challenge is the highlight of the annual Oktoberfest Celebration held at Fort Benning’s Uchee Creek. The 10K dirt and clay route winds deep into the woods around Uchee Creek. Watch your step and for wildlife, please! Open to the public. Early Registration $25: September 1 – October 21:  Register at Smith Fitness Center or online at Active.com. Early Registration ends at Smith at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 21st. Online registration ends at midnight on the 20th. There will be no further registration until race morning. Please note: There is no 5K registration this year. T-shirts will go to the first 100 people who register. Late Registration $35: Open on day of event from 7 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. The race starts at 9 a.m.

 

Howl-O-Ween – October 26

It’s a party on four legs! Outdoor Recreation will host their annual Howl-O-Ween from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Oct 26 at the Dog Park by Blue and French Fields on Main Post. This free event includes Pet and Owner Costume Contest and games for pets and their owners. For more information, call 706-545-6323. Friendly Reminders: Open to all ages (those under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian). Sunrise Cafe – NOW OPEN!

Sunrise Cafe is now open inside MWR Bingo, Bldg. 93 on Main Post. MWR’s newest dining option offers a fabulous breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. The menu features coffee and cakes from 7-10 am weekdays, lunch daily from 10 am-1:30pm, and dinner 5-9:30 pm Tuesdays-Friday and 11am-7pm weekends.
