FMCSA Awards Nearly $1 Million in Grants to Help Train Veterans in Jobs as Commercial Truck and Bus Drivers

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced that it has awarded nearly $1 million in grants to seven technical and community colleges across the country to help train veterans and their families for jobs as commercial bus and truck drivers.  The funding is provided through FMCSA’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMV-OST) grant program.

FMCSA Declares Utah Truck Driver to be an Imminent Hazard to Public Safety

 

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Utah-licensed truck driver Eddie D. Price to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Price was served the federal order on October 12, 2016.

FMCSA Declares Georgia-based Trucking Company to be an Imminent Hazard to Public Safety

 

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has ordered a LaGrange, Georgia-based trucking company, Industrial Transit, Inc., USDOT No. 814459, to immediately cease all intrastate and interstate operations after a federal investigation found the company to pose an imminent hazard to public safety.  The carrier was served the federal order on October 4, 2016.

U.S. DOT PROPOSES SPEED LIMITERS FOR LARGE COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

Requirement could save lives and more than $1 billion in fuel each year           

WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today that the Department’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) propose equipping heavy-duty vehicles with devices that limit their speeds on U.S. roadways, and requiring those devices be set to a maximum speed, a safety measure that could save lives and more than $1 billion in fuel costs each year.
