Entry-Level Driver Training Advisory Committee
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) established the Entry-Level Driver Training Advisory Committee (ELDTAC) to conduct a negotiated rulemaking on entry-level training for drivers of commercial motor vehicles. The committee will provide recommendations based on a consensus-based process on the development of minimum training requirements for individuals applying for a commercial driver’s license, in accordance with the requirements of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21). FMCSA announced its intent to establish the ELDTAC in a notice published in the Federal Register on December 10, 2014. Additionally, the notice requested applications and nominations for membership on the ELDTAC, subject to the conditions stated in the notice.
Charter
The committee was established in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended, 5. U.S.C. App. 2, as a discretionary advisory Committee under the authority of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The formation and use of the ELDTAC are determined to be in the public interest.
