Office of Operations

What We Do

The Office of Operations provides legal advice on a broad range of issues affecting the Department's programs.  We are the principal legal advisors to the General Counsel and Departmental Offices in the following areas of law:

  • The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Laws
  • Environmental Law
  • Economic/Competition Issues Affecting Airports and Airlines
  • The Department's Emergency Response Authorities/Transportation Security/Cyber Security

In addition to the practice areas listed above, we handle labor issues, matters involving Federal/State law interaction, records management issues, and transportation issues affecting Native American Tribes.  We also provide counsel for the Department's Essential Air Service and Small Community Air Service Development programs.
