Access, Cost, Quality and Safety Transparency Reports

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is committed to ensuring timely, patient-centered access to safe, high-quality health care for each of our beneficiaries. To ensure we meet the highest standards of care, we track our performance, and continually seek ways to improve. We are committed to sharing our performance in an understandable, usable and timely manner so our beneficiaries can make informed healthcare decisions.

It is an honor to serve our nation’s heroes, and we strive to provide the best health care possible each and every day. Caring for America’s Heroes is much more than a duty — it’s our passion.

About This Site

We believe transparency isn’t transparent if you can’t understand the information we are providing; therefore, under the headings on the left-side of the page, you will find several measures of performance that will help you understand more about our facility. For each measure, you will find:
  • an explanation of what we are measuring and why,
  • our performance in that measure and how we compare to the national benchmark,
  • what we are doing to improve our performance, and
  • what it means to our patients.
This information is designed to help educate you about our facility, our dedicated doctors, nurses, clinical support, and administrative staff, and our commitment to excellence.

This web site is in compliance with the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act, which requires each Military Treatment Facility (MTF) to publish patient safety, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and health outcomes data.

While we are not where we want to be on every measure of performance, we remain committed to improving. Our dedicated personnel are constantly looking for ways to improve, no matter how well we already perform, or how satisfied our patients seem.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about the information provided for these measures of performance, please feel free to contact our Patient Relations Department.
