Summary

On September 17, 2015, Luc Quirion, of Newport, Vermont, was indicted in U.S. District Court, Burlington, Vermont. The indictment was for making false statements to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by falsifying his application for an FAA medical certificate. 

This investigation was initiated in June 2014 after Quirion crashed his single-engine aircraft at the Newport State Airport in Newport, Vermont, and fled the scene. The investigation revealed that Quirion allegedly failed to disclose to the FAA his history of arrests involving driving while intoxicated and the use of prescribed medications for a diagnosed mental condition. He also allegedly did not possess a valid medical certificate and was operating an unregistered aircraft.

Quirion was previously arrested in August 2015, after failing to abide by the terms of a Pre-Trial Diversion Agreement related to this case.
