Summary

On April 27, 2016, Dennis Murphy, former pilot for JetBlue Airways, was arrested by DOT-OIG Special Agents at his residence in Ramsey, NJ. On April 19, 2016, he was charged in U.S. District Court, Brooklyn, NY, with operating an aircraft while under the influence of alcohol. 

It is alleged that on April 21, 2015, Murphy was the co-pilot for JetBlue Flight 583 (carrying 119 passengers) from John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, Queens, NY, to Orlando International Airport in Florida and for the return Flight 584 (carrying 151 passengers) from Orlando to JFK. After he landed Flight 584 at JFK, Murphy was subjected to a random breath alcohol content (BAC) test, administered by a JetBlue technician, resulting in a .111 percent BAC. An individual with a BAC of .10 is presumed to be under the influence of alcohol.
