Fiscal Year 2013 Commercial Driver's License Program Improvement Grants Awards

Purpose: Improve highway safety by ensuring that States are in compliance with the Federal regulations that require drivers of large trucks and buses to be qualified to obtain and hold the commercial driver’s license necessary to operate those vehicles.

Authorization: Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, Pub. L. No.109–59, §§ 4101(c) (1), 4124, 119 Stat. 1144, 1715, 1736–37 (2005), as amended by Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century, Pub. L. No.112–141, §§ 32603(c), 32604, 112002(c)(1) (2012).

Statue: 49 U.S.C. §§ 31311, 31313 (2006), as amended.

Grantees: States and the District of Columbia (for high priority activities and emergency issues) persons and other entities capable of conducting eligible work that is national in scope and benefit.
