Project detail
Roadmap/Focus area(s):   Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description:   This projects aims to provide recommended specifications for the splicing of mild steel reinforcement in lightweight high-performance concrete members.
Goals:   The key project objective is to develop recommended specifications for the splicing of mild steel reinforcement in lightweight high-performance concrete members.
Product Type:   Other
Research report
Techbrief
Test Methodology:   The test approach was full-scale physical testing of structural members in combination with all necessary computational analysis.
Other Information:   Full-scale physical testing began in November 2008 and was complete in February 2009. Forty full-scale beam tests were completed in this project.
Expected Benefits:   The expected benefit is the facilitation of a major revision of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specification, thus updating structural concrete provisions to reflect the performance of modern lightweight concretes appropriately.
Deliverables: 1. Name: Federal Highway Administration Research Program On Lightweight High-Performance Concrete — Development Length Of Uncoated Mild Steel In Tension
