Professional Highlights |
• Major Projects: Provided technical assistance on major projects such as Delaware DOT's cable-stayed Indian River Inlet (Charles W. Cullen) Bridge; Florida DOT's Port of Miami Tunnel; Maryland's Inter-County Connector; Minnesota DOT's I-35W Replacement Bridge; Virginia DOT's Downtown Tunnel/Midtown Tunnel/MLK Extension; and New York State Thruway Authority's Tappan Zee Bridge.
• Program/Process Reviews: Team Leader during comprehensive Geotechnical Program and Process Reviews for Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island State Departments of Transportation.
• Technology Deployment: Member of ASCE Geo-Institute Technical Committee's Grouting Task Force that developed and published Jet Grouting Guideline; and member of ICOG that organized 4th International Conference on Grouting and Deep Mixing in New Orleans, LA.
• Prior to joining FHWA: Principal professional associate and project manager for a global multi-discipline engineering organization; and project manager for a national geotechnical and environmental consulting firm.
• Provided geotechnical engineering support as senior project geotechnical engineer during conceptual/preliminary design of the multi-billion-dollar Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Project in Seattle, Washington.
• Provided on-site consultant/expert technical advice to international joint venture during conceptual and final design of Busan - Geoje Fixed Link Project - a mega project that included deep soil-cement foundation for a 2-mile, 170-ft-max depth immersed tunnel in Busan, South Korea.
• Senior project geotechnical engineer and chief geotechnical engineer during design and construction of the multi-billion-dollar Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston, Massachusetts. This included technically managing the design and providing construction support for an innovative 60-foot-deep cut-and-cover tunnel's vertical frozen soil lateral earth support system and the first U.S. large scale application of ground stabilization by deep soil-cement mixing technology.
• Senior project geotechnical engineer during design of the Inter-Island Tunnel Project that included 230- to 290-foot-deep, 11.5-foot-diameter rock tunnels and a 60-foot-deep, 11-foot diameter, soft ground tunnel.
