      There are two identical Great Northwest trips, one is escorted and one is unescorted. We thought long and hard about which one but at our age we needed the comfort of the escorted tour. The escorted tour cost us over $12,000, while the unescorted tour was around $6,000 for the two of us.

      We contacted Yankee Holidays and AMTRAK when we returned and they were apologetic and offered us a $500 voucher toward a tour in the next twelve months. Understand this was a 60th Anniversary trip for the honeymoon we never had when we were married and at our age, when a good part of our income is from Social Security, it was unlikely we would be taking another trip. This was our last hurrah!!!

      Sixth day was a free day to explore Vancouver. I was feeling so bad by then I spent the whole day in bed. The next morning we paid our way back to the starting point in Seattle. If we were on the unescorted tour transportation back to Seattle was included.

      Fifth day without Tour Director. Tour bus for city tour, same tour as previous day mostly in Stanley Park. While it is a beautiful place got the same spiels as the day before.

      Finally got luggage into hotel and found someone to get room assignments. Went to dinner at The Boathouse Restaurant. In the door, down the stairs, up the stairs, through the bar, up a long flight of stairs. The way I was feeling I didn't care if I ate or not. Found out we should have gone in another and only had one set of stairs. Where was a Tour Director!!!
