How do I make a train reservation?
Enter your cities and dates in the Fare Finder Tool, along with any passenger discounts that you qualify for, and click 'Find Trains'. You can book up to 8 passengers per reservation and reserve your tickets up to 11 months in advance. Available trains will be shown on the next page. When you find a train you wish to select, click 'Add to Cart' above the train information and follow the steps to complete the purchase.
Where can I change my reservation on Amtrak.com?
You can use Amtrak.com to change some aspects of existing reservations that were made online, through the Amtrak App or in a station. Changes can only be made if there is an e-mail address on file through Amtrak.com or modify reservations through the Amtrak App. Amtrak does not charge change fees, but other fees may apply.

If you have a profile on Amtrak.com, log in to see your upcoming reservations. To make changes, select the reservation you want to change. On the next page, click the 'Modify Trip' button above your reservation details. Once you verify that you've selected the correct trip, click the 'Change' button to begin changing your reservation.

If you haven't created a profile, just select the 'Modify Trip' tab of the Fare Finder Tool. Then enter your reservation number and either your e-mail address or your phone number and click 'Search'. From there, steps are the same as a logged in customer.
Where can I find train schedules?
Head to the Amtrak Train Schedules page for two ways to view train schedules. You can use the Timetables Tool on this page to look up train schedules between stations. Just enter an origin, destination and departure date. Then click Find Schedules. Or browse and view downloadable timetables for a specific route.
What do tickets cost?
The cost of your ticket is the rail fare, plus any accommodations you wish to add to your ticket. We don't charge additional taxes or fees. Accommodations include Business class, First class and Sleeping Accommodation upgrades, as well as bringing your vehicle (on the Auto Train) or bike with you.
Can you tell me more about everyday passenger discounts?
This page has information on our deals and offers including limited-time promotions, SmartFares, Multi-Ride Tickets, Rail Passes and a variety of everyday discounts.

We have some great everyday passenger discounts for kids, seniors, military, students and more to help you save even more when you travel by train. Can you help me cancel my reservation?
You can use Amtrak.com to cancel your reservation if you made your reservation online. If you have made modifications to your trip after booking it online, you may not be able to cancel it online. If you paid for your one-way, round-trip or multi-ride reservations with a credit card or an eVoucher, you can also cancel it on Amtrak.com, even if you made your reservations on the phone, at a Quik-Trak kiosk or with a station agent. Credit can be obtained in the form of an eVoucher for canceled reservations. Cancellation fees may apply and not all tickets are eligible for cancellation.

To cancel a reservation, select the Modify Trip tab of the Fare Finder Tool. Then enter your reservation number and either your e-mail address or your phone number and click Search. If you have a profile on Amtrak.com, click login after youve entered your information. On the next page, click the Cancel Trip button above your reservation details. Youll be able to view a refund summary and complete your cancellation on the next page.
How do I pay for my reservation?
Purchase tickets at any time on Amtrak.com with a valid American Express, Discover®, MasterCard®, VISA, Universal Air Travel Plan credit card. If you've been issued an eVoucher, you can apply it to your purchase, and even use a credit card and eVoucher in the same transaction. You can also pay for your ticket purchase with your Amtrak Guest Rewards points. We will request your payment information before your purchase is confirmed.
Where can I get information about eTickets?
eTicketing is enabled on nearly all Amtrak train routes and Thruway connecting bus services throughout the nation. Booking a trip, making reservation changes and boarding the train are more convenient than ever with eTickets. eTicketing simplifies the ticketing process and enhances your travel experience with Amtrak — no waiting in ticket lines at the station and no mailing cost. Simply present the eTicket on your smartphone/tablet screen to the conductor or print your eTicket and bring it with you to board the train. If you have additional questions, see the eTicketing information page.
Where can I find out more about getting a refund?
Most Amtrak tickets are refundable and can be canceled and refunded on Amtrak.com. A refund fee may apply in some cases. Refunds of eTickets may also be processed at ticket offices, by calling 800-USA-RAIL or through the Amtrak Refunds department. If paper value tickets were printed, the original paper ticket must be returned for any refund. Review the Refunds page more information about refund rules and how to receive a refund.
How can I check the status of my train?
Use the free Amtrak mobile app for iPhone®, Android" and Windows Phone® for a fast and easy way to check train status while you're on the go. To check arrival or departure status by train number, enter the station, train number and date. To check arrival status by city, just enter an origin, destination and date.

Check train status on Amtrak.com by clicking the 'Check Train Status' tab of the Fare Finder Tool on the home page or the 'Check Status' tab of the Fare Finder Tool on any other page. You can check status by train number or city here as well.

The Track a Train map is another powerful tool that allows you to check a train's status. It's flexible, so you can use the search box or interact with the map to find your desired train or station. Click the 'Track Your Train; Check Train Status' graphic on the top of the Destinations page to launch the map.

Type a train number in the search box and click 'Go'. The map will zoom to that train's location on the map, displaying a summary of its status. Click 'Detailed Train Status' to see more information about specific stops.

Type a train name in the search box and click 'Go' to see all the active trains along that route. To see details about a specific train, either select it from the active trains list or click its icon on the map.

To see all the train arrivals and departures for a certain station, just type the station name in the search box, select your desired station and click 'Go'. You can also click a station on the map at any time to get this same information.

Have a question, suggestion or concern? We're here to help you. Send us an e-mail and an Amtrak customer service representative will get back to you. Do not send confidential information such as credit card numbers and passwords. Click the 'Send' button only once.

Has one of our team members gone that extra mile for you? Send an employee some praise so we can let them know.
