Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to Present ‘Discussion Document’ for Updating Clean Air Action Plan

The governing boards of the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach will hold a joint public meeting Nov. 17 to discuss proposals for updating the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP). Developed over the past year, the CAAP Discussion Document outlines the ports’ plans for expanding the aggressive strategies that have succeeded in dramatically reducing air pollution from port-related sources over the last decade.

Maersk Line

Maersk Line, Port of Los Angeles, and Port of Long Beach Partner to Measure, Reduce Air Pollution from Ships

Shipping company Maersk Line and the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are partnering to measure the environmental benefits of a $125 million upgrade for 12 Maersk container ships. This will involve the installation of high-tech equipment to track vessel emissions and energy efficiency over the next three years, enabling more transparency and ultimately reducing the environmental impact of vessels calling at the San Pedro Bay port complex.

Metro Bike Share Comes to the Port of Los Angeles

Getting from place to place along the LA Waterfront is about to get a little easier - and a lot more fun. The Port of Los Angeles, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), has been given the green light by the LA Board of Harbor Commissioners to expand the Metro Bike Share program to the 12-mile LA Waterfront by next summer.
