TxDOT is rolling out a new dump truck that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG). This pilot truck will help us find out how natural gas performs in a heavy hard-working vehicle. CNG is a clean-burning fuel and usually quieter than diesels. This is mother and daughter Tracy and Kinsey. We want to thank them for being so strong and posing with our #EndTheStreakTX sign. Two years ago, Elana Noelle Myers was driving from Texas Tech University back home to Austin. She was driving distracted, crashed her car and never made it home. Elana is Tracy's daughter and Kinsey's sister. Both lives are devastated. Please share this story and encourage your friends and family members to pay attention to only driving when they are behind the wheel. Let's let people know Nov. 7, 2000 was the last day on Texas roads that someone did not die. Let's let Tracy and Kinsey know that our hearts are with them and give them our love and support. We're asking Texans to make their profile pics go black in honor of the 55,000 people who have died on Texas roads since Nov. 7, 2000. #EndTheStreakTX
We need your help, Facebookers. Next Monday marks a grim anniversary for our state. Nov. 7, 2000, was the last deathless day on Texas roads. Every day since then, at least one person has died on the road on our state. Through the month of November, we're going to work together remind everyone that 55,000 loved ones- parents, spouses, children and friends- have died in a crash in Texas in the last 16 years. We want to end this streak of daily deaths. Here's how you can help:
1...) Post pics of yourself on social media with with the hashtag #EndTheStreakTX. You can just write it on a piece of paper, or download one from http://bit.ly/EndTheStreakTX
2) Change your profile picture to be the black #EndTheStreak pic like ours.
3) Share any or all of the posts we are going to make throughout November with your followers. Remember to use our hashtag #EndTheStreakTX
4) Change your driving habits-- for the better. We'll have tips on how to do that throughout November.
