Hours of Service of Drivers
Advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM); request for comments.
The FHWA is initiating this rulemaking to revise the FHWA's hours-of-service (HOS) regulations. The FHWA is nearing completion of several research projects and seeks the results of other relevant research to consider in this effort. To assist the FHWA in gathering all pertinent data to make informed decisions based upon scientific evidence, the FHWA requests assistance in locating any other relevant information, including research, operational tests, or pilot regulatory programs conducted anywhere in the world, that may be used by the agency in developing a revised program for the HOS of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. This action is mandated by the ICC Termination Act of 1995.
