Superpave Fundamentals (Course materials) General Interest: provides practical guidance to engineers responsible for the day-to-day design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and management of pavements. Research/Reference: useful for researchers doing further work in the pavement area as well as those developing improved testing and design procedures. Includes documents of historical value.

Primary Topic: Flexible Pavement

Description: This training course was offered by the FHWA's National Highway Institute (NHI) as a tool to inform highway industry personnel of the benefits of Superpave. The primary goals of this course course were to describe the Superpave components, the critical requirements, why they are needed, and how this system impacts the production and construction procedures for hot mix asphalt. Although the course is not currently offered, course materials are available from the NHI website.
