U.S. Department of Transportation Releases Funding to University Transportation Centers.  The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released $37,373,600 in grants to 11 University Transportation Centers (UTCs) from funding authorized by Congress for schools selected in the 2011 UTC Grant Program competition. The following UTCs will each receive $3,397,600: Massachusetts Institute of Technology; City University of New York; University of Florida; Purdue University; University of California; University of Washington; Georgia Institute of Technology; Mississippi State University; University of Idaho; University of Wisconsin; and San José State University.  UTCs work with regional, state, and local transportation agencies to help find solutions to challenges that directly impact their communities and affect the efficiency of the nation’s transportation system.  The UTC Program is housed within DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration.
