Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA) Requirements for the Transportation Sector and MassDOT

MassDEP has implemented new rules that require metropolitan planning organizations and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to incorporate greenhouse gas emissions evaluation, tracking and reduction into regional transit plans and mass transit improvement projects.

MassDEP Clean Energy Standard

As part of an overall strategy to achieve an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions statewide by 2050, MassDEP has proposed regulations that would implement a Clean Energy Standard (CES). This would provide utilities a long-term incentive to deliver increasing amounts of clean electricity to consumers and move the state toward a more stable and reliable energy system.
