The Information and Personnel Security Branch develops and oversees implementation of Department of the Navy (DON) policy for the designation, marking, protection, and dissemination of classified and controlled unclassified information. This combined guidance is commonly referred to as the DON Information Security Program (ISP). The DON ISP harmonizes and aligns processes among collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Special Access Program (SAP), and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to the maximum extent possible to promote information sharing, facilitate judicious use of scarce resources, simplify management implementation, and oversight. The Branch also maintains the DON’s authoritative list of all current security classification guides and Original Classification Authorities (OCAs). We also provide security review service for the Secretariat, Commandant of the Marine Corps and Chief of Naval Operations on all materials provided to the Congress.
The Information and Personnel Security Branch is the DON ISP requirements advocate at Department of Defense and interagency policy forums.
