About this Software
The Uniform Fine Assessment (UFA) software is a data collection tool that assists FMCSA staff and its State partners who perform investigations, roadside inspections, hazardous materials package inspections, and other enforcement actions, in determining fines for violations of the regulations enforced by the Agency. The software was developed to promote uniformity and consistency in the assessment of civil penalties. UFA calculates penalties and prepares a report demonstrating the manner in which FMCSA considered the statutory penalty factors, regulatory requirements, and administrative policies.
The UFA 4.0 software can only be used to calculate penalties based on investigations that are initiated on or after August 12, 2013. The software will not yield the same results for penalties that are calculated before this date.
