Information on Census Data and Apportionments Below

It will be approximately April 2012 before the U.S. Census announces the new list of 2010 Census Urbanized Areas (UZAs), including populations of any new UZA’s and for existing UZA’s (or newly combined UZAs if there are any.)  The earliest FTA would be able to use the new UZA information would be for the FY 2013 apportionments.

Fact Sheet on Apportionments is available on FTA's public website. Link is below: https://webarchive.library.unt.edu/web/20110511074624/http://www.fta.dot.gov/funding/grants_financing_38.html

Census has begun releasing various sets of data, including State populations for apportionment of Congressional districts last December (December 2010), and more recently some local demographic and population data.  However,UZA information will not be available until Spring 2012 at the earliest, consistent with their original schedule.
