FMCSA Facebook Comment Policy

Overview

Thank you for being a fan of the FMCSA on Facebook. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration participates in Facebook to engage with individuals and organizations about topics related to FMCSA’'s mission.

Are you an FMCSA employee?

If so, you are responsible for reading and understanding this policy, as well as complying with the rules and guidelines in the DOT Social Media Policy, particularly Appendix A: Employee Conduct Policy.

Acceptable Comments

We welcome your comments, ideas, and concerns. However, we expect conversations to follow the conventions of civil discourse. While we encourage fans to share thoughts and opinions on the FMCSA Facebook page, we expect that this will be done in a respectful manner.

The FMCSA does not agree with or endorse every comment that individuals post on our pages. Our goal is to share ideas and information with as many individuals as possible and our policy is to accept the majority of comments posted on our Facebook Wall.

All links posted as comments on FMCSA posts will be reviewed and may be deleted. Repeated violations of the FMCSA Comment Policy may cause the author to be blocked from the FMCSA Facebook page.

Rulemaking

We value Facebook as a two-way medium of communications between the FMCSA and you. Facebook is not, however, a medium to provide comments on FMCSA rulemaking proceedings currently under consideration. If you wish to provide comments on a rulemaking proceeding, you must submit your comments as indicated in the rulemaking notice.  FMCSA reserves the right to remove comments on rulemaking proceedings from this Facebook page. If you are interested in commenting on any open rulemaking proceeding, you must submit your comments directly to the rulemaking docket either electronically (on line throughhttp://www.regulations.gov) or in writing by FAX, mail, or hand delivery as directed in the FMCSA rulemaking notice.

Lawsuits

Public comments regarding ongoing litigation or agency administrative actions may be removed by FMCSA as these actions are more appropriately reserved for legal forums.

Comment Review Period

We recognize that the Internet is a medium unbound by regular business hours and your comments are welcomed at any time. However, given the need to manage federal resources, comments will be reviewed only during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
