Search Tips

The default search is a All Keywords search in TRIS Online. To search both databases, choose "Search All" from Search In drop down list on the New/Simple Search screen and Advanced Search Screen.

New feature of Advanced Search is available by clicking on Advanced tab at the top of the screen.

Boolean searching is supported -- AND, OR, NOT
AND is the default

Phrases must be enclosed in double quotes (").

Search terms are not case sensitive. 
Example: highway trust fund finds Highway Trust Fund, HIGHWAY TRUST FUND, and highway trust fund.

Word Stemming is not the default. 
Example: speed bump will not find records with speed bumps.

Truncation is supported. The symbol is the asterisk *.

Results from a query are initially displayed as a listing of brief record. To retrieve the full record, click on the title. Click the checkbox to the left of each record you would like to mark. Use the Mark All Records button to mark all the records on the page. You also can remove any of the marked records by removing the check in the checkbox.

Tip: To mark a large result set, change the records per 50/page by clicking on "50/Page" link. in the Show line on the right hand side of the screen. Then click on the Mark All Records button.

Record can be exported in a variety of formats (HTML, text, and Excel). Records can also be printed. Emailing of records is not available at this time.
