"Leak Detection Draft Report"

PHMSA commissioned a study for improving pipeline leak detection system effectiveness. The study was conducted in response to a mandate from the Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty, and Job creation Act of 2011 and NTSB recommendation from the San Bruno, CA accident.

A draft report was developed and presented via webinar on October 5, along with another study being conducted on automatic and remotelly controlled shut-off valves. Presentations and recordings from the webinar, including background and approach used for the studies, are available via the meeting website Pipeline Leak Detection and Automatic/Remote Controlled Shutoff Valve Studies Web-Based Briefing.

PHMSA welcomed comments through October 26 for the Leak Detection DRAFT Report : Leak_Detection_Study__DTPH56-11-D-000001_R_Draft_final_10-04-2012.pdf
