Summary

The Kerrville Painting Company of Kerrville, TX, two of its executives and a former state highway inspector pled guilty before a U.S. District Court judge in Little Rock, AR for violations associated with the illegal dumping of lead-contaminated waste into an Arkansas river during 1999 and 2000. Kerrville Painting specializes in sandblasting and painting of steel structures -- primarily bridges. This work typically generates lead-contaminated waste, and the failure to dispose of it properly ignores federal laws established to protect the environment and public health. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the OIG, the EPA-CID, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office of Environmental Protection Unit, and both the Arkansas and Oklahoma Departments of Environmental Quality.
