Inspector General Meets with Secretary Mineta and Acting Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty On Fraud Prevention Initiatives

Summary

On November 15, the Inspector General, modal administrators and other Departmental officials joined Secretary Mineta in a meeting with Paul McNulty, the Acting Deputy Attorney General and U.S. Attorney (Eastern District of Virginia) to discuss their respective efforts to combat fraud, waste, and abuse. The Secretary highlighted a new DOT Order that establishes a strong, uniform policy on suspension and debarment of contractors who commit fraud involving DOT-funded programs. Acting Deputy Attorney General McNulty discussed his Procurement Fraud Task Force, in which OIG is participating along with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
