Audit Initiated of DOT’s Readiness to Implement the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014

Required by the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014

Summary

The Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014 (DATA Act) requires the establishment of government-wide data standards for financial data such as Federal agency expenditures, contracts, loans, and grant programs. These standards will allow taxpayers and policy makers to easily track Federal spending with accessible, consistent, reliable, and searchable data. The Data Act also requires inspectors general to assess the implementation of the data standards. Accordingly, we are initiating this audit to assess the Department’s plan for implementing the Data Act and its progress to date.
