Summary

We are initiating an audit of the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) acquisition and use of monitoring and technical assistance contractors (MTAC) for high speed and intercity passenger rail (HSIPR) grant oversight. The audit objectives are to assess (1) FRA’s acquisition of MTACs through the Volpe National Transportation Center, and (2) FRA’s management and use of oversight services provided by MTACs for HSIPR projects.
