San Jose Man Sentenced in "Low Ball" Moving Company Scheme

Summary

On September 4, 2014, in Superior Court, County of Santa Clara, California, Wayne Allen, a former salesman for ASAP Relocations, Inc. (ASAP), San Jose, California, was sentenced to perform 300 hours of community service and ordered to pay $4,200 in restitution for his participation in a scheme to defraud moving customers.  Allen, a San Jose resident, and other employees, including the owner, lured moving customers with lowball quotes.  Once the moves were in progress, customers were told their furniture and other belongings would be taken to storage unless they paid significantly increased fees charged by ASAP for unnecessary packing supplies.
