Summary

Anat Ben-Zion, owner of Southeastern Van Lines, North Miami, FL, was sentenced May 6 to 20 months in prison by a U.S. District Court judge in Miami for her role in defrauding customers of her household goods moving company. Two salesmen for the company, Walter Keener and Lior Bar, were sentenced on April 19 for their roles in the scam. Keener received 30 days in prison and 11 months home confinement. Bar was also sentenced to 11 months home confinement. The three were ordered to pay $46,326 each in restitution. When Ben-Zion completes her prison term, she will be released to immigration officials for possible deportation to Israel.



In a related case, Ben-Firas Hleihil, a foreman/driver and Wanderson Da Silva, sales representative for All Points USA Relocation Systems, Inc., Pembroke Pines, Florida On May 5, 2004, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale for their roles in defrauding household goods customers. Hleihil was sentenced to 63 months in prison; 3 years supervised release and ordered to pay $212,000 in restitution. DaSilva was sentenced to 60 months in prison; 3 years supervised release and ordered to pay $451,000 in restitution. The two companies and the four men and one woman were among 74 individuals and 16 companies indicted in March 2003 following a joint FBI-OIG undercover investigation.
