Virginia Trucking Executive Pleads Guilty in CDL Fraud Case

Summary

On April 18, Henry Delgadillo, former Vice President of Covitta, Inc. (Covitta), a trucking company in Lorton, VA, pled guilty to identification fraud in connection with misuse of a social security number to obtain a Virginia CDL. Delgadillo, an alien illegally present in the United States, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, VA to two months in jail and four months home confinement. Delgadillo was also identified as a participant in a scheme to obtain counterfeit New Jersey CDLs for several Covitta truck drivers. Earlier in April 2005, Ruth Lazarte, Covitta’s former Corporate Secretary, and Ricardo Mendoza, company driver, pled guilty to misuse of a social security number and identification fraud respectively. The ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly with DHS-ICE and the Social Security Administration.
