Tennessee Aircraft Mechanic Charged With Forgery of Aircraft Maintenance Records

Summary

On April 20, 2016, James L. Brumit, an aircraft mechanic in Nashville, TN, was indicted and charged with forgery by a Dickson County TN, Grand Jury. Brumit allegedly forged the mechanic’s signature because he lacked the authority and qualifications necessary to perform the annual inspection. Following the alleged unauthorized inspection, the aircraft was involved in a crash due to in-flight engine failure on July 31, 2014, in Helena, AL.
