Summary

On October 14, 2015, X-Treme Motors Inc. (X-Treme), Tyson Preece, Cory Preece, and Toby Green were indicted in U.S. District Court, Salt Lake City, Utah, for transporting hazardous materials, smuggling goods from the United States, false statements, and aiding and abetting. 

On September 17, 2014, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) notified OIG of allegations that X-Treme, a seller of firearms and tactical equipment, of West Haven, Utah falsified documents pertaining to a shipment of hazardous materials on commercial aircraft. HSI advised that the X-Treme shipment was refused by postal personnel after it was identified as hazardous materials - Foaming Bore Cleaner Aerosol. X-Treme later reshipped the five cans by covering the word aerosol on a Customs Declaration form. HSI seized the shipment after being alerted by United States Postal employees. HSI further advised that X-Treme had intended to ship the items to foreign companies via air carrier without properly declaring them as hazardous materials. The defendants were also charged with smuggling firearm parts and accessories.

We are conducting this investigation with HSI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
