Summary

On November 14, 2014, informations were filed in U.S. District Court, Detroit, Michigan, charging Samar Ayoub, Associate, and Hussein Jomaa, Manager, both of Eagle Auto Sales, with intentionally trafficking and/or attempting to traffic in counterfeit goods; specifically automotive airbags.

The information alleged that from approximately August 2010, to approximately December 2011, Ayoub and Jomaa intentionally trafficked and/or attempted to traffic in counterfeit airbags by knowingly using counterfeit marks indistinguishable from logo emblems used on the airbags marketed by the American Honda Motor Company, Inc. 

Static deployment testing, conducted by engineers at the U.S. Department of Transportation - National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, Vehicle Test and Research Center, confirmed the airbags would not deploy in any manner suitable to prevent injury to drivers in possession of these counterfeit, non-OEM, airbags.

We are conducting this investigation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations.
