Louisiana Household Goods Moving Company Owner Pleads Guilty

Summary

On November 5, 2014, Dunwoodie McDuffie, owner and operator of Mr. Move, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, New Orleans, Louisiana, to conducting interstate household goods (HHG) moves from February to April 2013, using a revoked U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) number and without registering for DOT HHG Operating Authority.

McDuffie operated Mr. Move in the New Orleans, Louisiana, area and performed both interstate and intrastate HHG moves. Mr. Move was placed out of service by the DOT, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) on December 3, 2008, for failing to comply with safety review requirements. As a result, Mr. Move did not have operating authority to conduct interstate HHG moves.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Move conducted seventeen interstate HHG moves between January 2013 and August 2013, in violation of the FMCSA out of service order.

We conducted this investigation with assistance from FMCSA and the Louisiana State Police.
