Trucker Jailed for Illegal Transport of Acid and Cyanide

Summary

Marvin Hutchinson was sentenced in U.S. District Court in San Diego to 15 months' imprisonment and a $4,000 fine for violating Federal hazardous material transportation laws. Hutchinson pleaded guilty last October to conspiring to transport hazardous waste to an unlicensed site and to the illegal transportation of acid and cyanide. The acid and cyanide, if mixed together, can form a deadly toxic gas. OIG investigated this case with the FBI, EPA/CID, and the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health Services.
