Sentencing in Airport Breach and Theft Security Case

Summary

Juan Jose Ramirez-Caro was sentenced by a U.S. District Court judge in Miami to 9 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution of $9,000 for stealing luggage from a secured area at Miami International Airport. Ramirez-Caro pled guilty March 8th to charges of illegally using an Airport Secured Identification Display Area access badge to gain access to a storage area and then stole 11 pieces of luggage from US Airways passengers at MIA. Ramirez-Caro was not employed by an airport operator at MIA and was not entitled to carry a SIDA badge. OIG investigated this case with Miami-Dade Police Department.
