Sentencing in Computer Intrusion Case

Summary

A 15-year-old Connecticut boy was sentenced by a Massachusetts juvenile court judge in Cambridge, MA to 2 years' probation, forfeiture of his computer, and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution for hacking into government computer systems. The youth used his home computer to hack into the Air Mobility Command computer system at Scott Air Force base via a secure connection between the Air Force and a DOT computer system at RSPA's Volpe Center in Cambridge. The computer system maintains and tracks the positioning of non-combat Air Force planes. OIG investigated this case with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
