Pilot Pleads Guilty To Falsifying FAA Documents

Summary

Brian G. Vater pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, in Arlington, TX, to charges of making false entries on FAA documents. Vater, a pilot and part owner of Alamo Aviation, Inc., of Arlington, signed off on FAA maintenance records, even though he is not a certified aviation mechanic. He also entered false information on his FAA Airman’s Certificate and his Medical Certificate, both of which are prerequisites to legally flying. Vater will be sentenced on November 13, 2001. This investigation was conducted by OIG with assistance from FAA.
